Big Week at EES

This week is a big week for us here at Eastern.

All week long, we will be holding our Scholastic Book Fair.  Tuesday night is Family Night from 5 to 7!  Please come out to enjoy some refreshments and time at school with your student.

Grandfamily Day for 5th grade is Thursday, the 21st.  Get with your child's teacher for exact timing.

High Attendance Day is Wednesday, the 20th.  The school with the highest percentage will be rewarded with a school-wide treat!  Be sure your child is here.  It will also help their class in our weekly attendance race.  Ask them how many letters they have earned and if their class has been awarded a trophy yet!

Friday, the 22nd, will be our Fall Carnival at Evan's Orchard.  Feel free to come anytime between 6 and 8:30 for an exciting night supporting our school and local business.

We hope to see each one of you around this week!  Happy Monday! :)

TGIF!

Happy Friday Afternoon!

What a fantastic week we had!  Your children learned all about Geography, Exponents, and read from Night of the Spadefoot Toad.  Be sure to ask them all about their Mystery Science activities from this week!

Here are some important things to keep in mind for the upcoming weeks:

  • Gradesheets came home today in Friday folders.  Please look over your child's current grades.  Sign the gradesheet and return it Monday.
  • Picture day is Tuesday!
  • There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 4th.
  • Girls on the Run flyers went home today.  Those wanting to participate need to sign up ASAP!  It is first come, first serve.
Have a terrific weekend! :)

Perfect Attendance Challenge

This school year, we are working hard to improve on attendance school-wide.  There will be a competition among classes at each grade level to get Perfect Attendance each day.  Any day that a class has perfect attendance (no tardies or sign outs), each class can put up a letter of the words "PERFECT ATTENDANCE."  When a class spells both words, they will be rewarded with a special treat.  The rewards are fun and a great incentive to be at school!  This will start on September 1st!

Fifth Grade News

Good morning and happy Friday!  Please read below for important fifth grade news.

  • If your child is missing any of the opening day paper work, please sign and return that as soon as possible.  You may find papers stapled to your child's agenda if they are missing any paper work.
  • We WILL be in school on Monday, August 21st.  Your student will be counted absent if they miss and have not turned in the Educational Enhancement Opportunity Request Form.  These forms were passed out this week and were due today.
  • August 29th will be PICTURE DAY!  A flyer has been sent home regarding this event.
  • There will NOT be school on September 4th.

Homework will start full-swing next week.  Please make sure your child is completing the required reading each night (to meet AR goals by the end of September) and completing their Vocabulary Packet which is due every Tuesday and Thursday.  Math homework will be given on MOST Wednesdays.

Our first GRADE SHEET will take place next Friday.  The grade sheet will include all graded work up to this point and will require a signature.  These are essentially "mini" mid-terms so that you and your child can keep track of their academic progress.

We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
